Free Tour Stuttgart Old Town



Overview
Our tour starts in front of the main railways station of Stuttgart. Then we will walk through the scenic gardens, admiring the Stuttgart State Opera and the Landtag Building - the local parliament of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Next to it, you will admire The New Palace surrounded by buildings dating from Stuttgart's past as a ducal and royal of Württemberg
Then we will move on to see massive Altes Schloss or Old Castle. The construction houses today the State Museum. We will learn about one of the famous inhabitants of the castle - count Claus von Stauffenberg the central figures of the German resistance to Nazism known for his failed attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
The tours continue to Schillerplatz, where we discover the Alte Kanzlei (Old Chancellery), and on the old Fruchtkasten (Granary) dating from 1390. The most remarkable site is the Stiftskirche with emblematic two unmatched spires. After a stroll through the old town and City’s Town Hall, the tour concludes in front of the birthplace of Georg Wilhelm Hegel, considered one of the fundamental figures of Western philosophy. From here you can visit the museum or explore the city on your own.
